How to exhibit

How to Exhibit Your Art with the ASA

The Ashburton Society of Arts provides a range of regular exhibitions and opportunities for our members to exhibit and sell works of art.

Short Street “Selling Gallery” Shows

Exhibit your works of art in the next Autumn, Winter, Spring, Christmas or Summer shows at our Short Street Studio.

Open Saturdays and Sundays 11am – 4pm, or when the sign is out, or by appointment.

Annual Exhibition

Our feature exhibition held every July at the prestigious Ashburton Art Gallery showcases works of Art, Applied Art & Craft, Sculpture and Photography from artists all over New Zealand.

It attracts approximately 500 entries from all over New Zealand. To be eligible, artists must belong to the Ashburton Society of Arts or to a kindred society.

Artists are allowed to enter one painting, one sculpture, three miniature paintings plus three applied art & craft entries and/or one photograph if desired. Size restrictions apply to all categories and are set out on the conditions of entry.

Online entries are available during May.

Studio Gallery for Hire

Our Short Street Studio is an excellent venue and is available for hire for holding solo or group exhibitions, art tutoring or social activities.

We have two rooms available to enjoy our art in (or hire out). In recent years, we have hosted several exhibitions for Hakatere Ceramics and Pottery, an art auction for Advance Ashburton and a solo exhibition to celebrate an artist’s 80th birthday.

If you wish to hire out a studio room (or two) please …

Online Sales

Our online shop is another way to put your art in front of people.

Members of the society are invited to join and list their work for exhibition and sale on our website.
